WTF is the point of this? There's no GBA slot...if I want a camera, I'll buy one.

*epic facepalm* Why Nintendo? Why? Why must you do this to us?

A NEW hand held model is suppose to be BETTER than the last one! Not worse!! Like, better screen quality (though there's no issues yet with the DS Lite), or the ability to read GBC or GB games (DO WANT!!), but not adding a dinky little camera!!

Honestly...how many gamers NEED a camera attached to their DS?

It may be awesome at first, but in the end, it's suppose to be a handheld GAMING device!!

Ugh...I'm sick of this...first cell phones...now our hand held gaming gear...

now luckster i dissagree with your point i mean there is probally is go to be a game for the camera like on the ps2 when thay got that camera thingy. now this could be the closest thing to a netendo phone and unless you are a dumb sony fan i think this will sell more copies around the world then that stupid psp

Luckster said...

Ananymous, you seem to be missing why I ranted so much.

For a new model, they could have made it so we could play OLD games. Remember the big brick Gameboy? Or the Gameboy Colour? I miss playing those games because the DS isn't compatible with them. That was a huge problem when the DS first came out.

And considering the camera lens is on the outside of the DS, I doubt there's going to be any game that requires use of the camera like those irritating I-cam games for the PS2.

It's just another terrible, and expensive, gimmick, just like the Gameboy Camera and the e-reader.

It might be appealing to some at first, but it will die very very fast.

first of all i miss those old games to but it's not going to bring them back there outdated and thats all we can to soon there is going to be a ps4 that is not able to play the ps1 games. so you are going to complain that these games are still cool and most of them are, but they are not going to bring them back with the games that are outdated jest play the game consol that are compatable with like keep your origional ds lite or ds and the GBA so you can do all the stuff you want but with the resilution of what you get they cant go on the ds because they have so much bad graphics and it will break the ds if you do play it on it. A resilution is to download the game on the internet and put it on the sd card and play it then if it works it works if dosen't than play it on your computer. i now how much you miss the games becouse i have the orginal kerbi and i can only play it on the GBA Sp

pretty easy to play old ROMS on a DS you tard, and you dont have to change out the stupid plastic carts every time.

The D pad kills my thumb after playing for a few minutes, (same with Wii remote D pad) Screen needs to be a lot bigger WTf happened with that? .25 inch increase!?1 lame

Anonymous said...

I really don't see what the problem is. If you still want to play GB/GBC games (which surprises me if you even still own them), just use an em...

the "e" word. VBA can do all that.

Anonymous said...

Do not forget, all of those gbc and gba games can be emulated. And, it comes with an SD card slot so it'll be easier than ever to run them

Anonymous 2 said...

Luckster, if you wanna play the old games so much, shouldn't you have...kept them?

Anonymous said...

@luckster: WTF do you need a GBA slot for the DSi if you can just use your GBA/SP to play the old games you want to play? they did make this handheld gaming device for us to do a lot of things not just gaming. why don't you ask sony first for making that stupid psp? they were the first ones who made a handheld gaming device a multi device with music and detachable camera, right? use your head man, think before you react with stupid reactions. BTW DSi rocks.hahahahaha.......

Hi Luckster, I apologise, thats my friend Jay-Jay, his rationality doesn't make up for his poor grammar and spelling. I do somewhat disagree with you, Jay-Jay. I doubt that there will be games to utilise the camera because remember, The DSi will be playing regular DS games, which means the DS lite will be able to play them too.

Also, I think that calling Sony fans 'dumb' is also a tad bit rational. The sony PSP is doing quite well, and while the home console games such as the Wii and the PS3 are close for sales, it doesn't mean that the handheld consoles will reflect this just because a camera and other small features are included.

So Jay-Jay, calm down a bit.
I have to wonder though how well the DSi will do?

@Luckster

Get with the times, Nintendo clearly wants to let go of the past and move onto the future.

If you wanna play old games then either emulate them OR buy the console that it works with...Duhh!

portable consoles lie the gba and the ds are becoming more than game consoles, the idea if making new consoles is ti make them better, and i think they did! would you spend 200 pounds on a camra, 150 for an ipod, mabey 250 for a vid cam, 80 for a ds lite OR send 150 on a dsi that does all of that!...r.s

Apparently I'm too old fashion for some of you replying to me.

When I get a phone, I expect a phone. Nothing more. No texting, no camera, none of that unnessisary crap.

When I get a game console, I expect just that! Something I can play my games on. I don't want a camera, and MP3 player, a DVD player, etc. mucking up my game gear.

Anonymous said...

well it does seem cooler but not much of a diffrence becuase the quality of the pictres might not be so good and it wont hold many pictures

i love taking pictures but thats why i have a camara
but my brother is going to ge the dsi becuase he dosent hav a ds so if i want to use it ill use his

AoD said...

I kinda agree with Luckster, older systems will break over time and people will still want to play them. The fact that there isnt a GBA port makes me wtf too, i have had a SP and it broke so i can only use my DS to play them and i with DSi i wouldnt be able too. also, for those who will come at me with "Buy another SP" or "Rom them" i do ROM them but you cant have your computer all the time and screw spending more money.

DJ said...

WTF 3.0 megapixels... the quality is so bad, what is the point of putting the camera on there... and with pis so bad why put a memory card slot? i know im not gonna wanna keep the pictures, add the fact that there are cameras that are way smaller that take better pics and VIDEO so lets see what makes this a better gaming device.....

Nothing. screen .25 bigger...so what when the whole unit is bigger and heavier...then add the fact that the removed the GBA slot that means this is less useful than the previous stystem.... sure the browers seams cool... but the only thing i wanna do online is play against other opponents so since my current already does that, and has a longer battery life, i think this system as a whole is a step back. It's just agimmik to get some christmas money...

temi said...

@DJ: why don't you try reading the full article about the DSi so you may know what are it's features. don't assume that it is heavier or something more. it's lighter and thinner than the ds lite. it's just only bigger.

Lite2Darc said...

Luckster I see your point with the old games but I have read that if you get an sd chip for the dsi you will be able to download old hand held games from the ds shop, It will be available for free if there is wifi near by. I also think that the mp3 and camera are a good idea as it will give you more things to do since I wouldn't pay for an ipod and camera it's much more convenient for my games consoles to already have on!

munjey86 said...

Well said Luckster.

Anonymous said...

@lite2darc:

The camera is horrible, and the DS is much too big to be listening to music while for example jogging, or doing other activities. It's not much more convenient if both suck. OVerall i got to agree with Luckster, this is more of another cheap try from nintendo of getting money out of people.

Anonymous said...

ok luckster im the only one agreeing with you but i you worfing it wring...
the thing is the gba slot could do so much but the fail to put the that port to its full extention so i disagree with youthere luckster but
pretty much everything is a waster...
two cameras for what?
ok i would be fine with one in front of you...
the thing looks no difference ...
i say its just a tad better...
enough to notice but not enough to change anything... really...

if there's only a camera on the front, then whats that big black circle on the inside of the DSi between the two screens?

GamerGal said...

The problem with having a GB or GBC slot on a DS is the fact that the internal battery in those games goes out after seven years, so no matter what game you had, it might not even be able to be saved.

That looks sick. I plan to sell it at my site. Would love to be able to link to the pictures

some of the other anonymus guys said stuff like "well you could buy a camera for lots of money.. mp3 .. and so on OR get a ds that does all of that"

id like to add that it maybe does it... but the question is HOW... with such a small lense and no objective it would be quite a crappy camera so wheres the use of that? and also no mp3 player that is just built into something has acceptable sound quality.
also it can be cheaper to get good single devices and not some all in wonder.....

anyways one thing that wanst pointed out here....i think... is that this "newer" ds version is smaller than the ds light wich apart from the gadgets is really some advantage... cause gameboy is all about being mobile.

i first of all thought that the new DSi was fantastic but then i realised that the extra 50 quid is only for the camera which i have my phone for and i have a ds lite and that could play all the games that a nintendo-i could play unlesss there are some games to do with the camera. My DS is a little rundown because ive had it a few years and if it stopped working and i was offered one for christmas i would probably get the ds-i but theres no point me going out to buy it while ive got a perfectly working DS Lite.
